Biography
Prior to joining West Physics as a medical physicist, Mr. Katakam worked as a research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, specializing in the production and
detection of radioactive ion beams. During his tenure at the University of Tennessee, he was a graduate research assistant with their experimental nuclear physics
group, working on radiation detection and digital pulse processing techniques. For his Master’s thesis, Mr. Katakam developed pulse shape discrimination techniques
for electron and gamma radiation in a Si(Li) detector and developed timing algorithms. Mr. Katakam also has prior experience as a software engineer for a successful
IT consulting firm.
Mr. Katakam is originally from Kakinada, India.
